چکیده

Results: The blaVIM gene was present in 34 (43.6%), blaIMP in five (6.4%) and none of the isolates from 2008 had blaNDM-1 or blaKPC genes. Among the isolates from 2012, blaNDM-1 gene was present in 47 (53.4%), blaVIM in 19 (24.4%), blaIMP in one (1.1%) and none had blaKPC. There were nine isolates during the two years which had multiple genes encoding carbapenemases; while 66 did not have any of the genes tested. Of the 80 isolates subjected to BOX-PCR, 58 could be used for analysis and showed, presence of multiple clusters of carbapenem resistant isolates and absence of a single dominant clone.

Prevalence of bla-NDM gene in the carbapenem drug resistant Klebsiella spp isolated from the tertiary care centre

Introduction and objectives: Antimicrobial resistant (AMR) is a serious global threat and World Health Organization (WHO) declared AMR is the one among 10 public health threat facing the humanity. Increase in Carbapenem resistant is the major problem which hinders the patient treatment. Various genes are responsible for carbapenem resistant but the gene bla-NDM has the ability to inactivate var...

Detection of Metallo-Beta-lactamase Production in Rare Carbapenem-Resistant Non-fermentative Gram-Negative Bacilli Isolated in a Tertiary Care Hospital, Visakhapatnam, India

Introduction: Non-fermentative Gram-negative bacilli (NFGNB) are occasionally involved in infectious diseases pathology, but have shown resistance to multiple antibiotics and the capability to gain new resistance factors in the hospital environment. The present study was aimed to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility pattern of rare NFGNB isolated from different clinical samples and the pre...

Insights into a Novel blaKPC-2 -Encoding IncP-6 Plasmid Reveal Carbapenem-Resistance Circulation in Several Enterobacteriaceae Species from Wastewater and a Hospital Source in Spain

Untreated wastewater, particularly from hospitals and other healthcare facilities, is considered to be a reservoir for multidrug-resistant bacteria. However, its role in the spread of antibiotic resistances in the human population remains poorly investigated. We used whole genome sequencing to analyze 25 KPC-2-producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates from sewage water collected during a 3-year per...

Molecular epidemiology of carbapenem- resistant Enterobacteriaceae from a North Indian Tertiary Hospital

5 Abstract Aim: To analyse the occurrence of bla genes (blaIMP, blaVIM, blaGIM, blaSIM, blaSPM, blaPER, blaKPC, and blaOXA) responsible for carbapenemresistance, as well as the presence of cephalosporin-resistance genes (blaCTX-M, blaTEM, blaSHV and blaampC ) by polymerase chain reactions (PCRs). Methods: The study was performed on routine samples subjected to culture and antibiotics susceptibi...
